The Sheridan Glacier, only 15 miles from the Lodge, is one of the most accessible glaciers in the State of Alaska, and yet is rarely explored.  A short hike thru a spruce-hemlock forest and you are presented with a commanding view of the Sheridan and Sherman Glaciers.  Following a cobbled trail, surrounded by alders and wildflowers, you soon arrive at the icy face.  Hike through the moraine and you find yourself standing upon the ancient ice of this majestic glacier.  The terrain before you is an ever changing topography of glacial lakes, crystal blue caves and sudden jagged crevasses.

Boots and crampons are provided by your experienced guides.

Start this excursion with a scenic drive across the Copper River Delta on a road that was once the path of the Copper River & Northwestern Railway.  Enjoy numerous stops that allow you to experience the fragile wetland habitat and the immerse yourselves in the spruce-hemlock rainforest while taking in an awesome view of the Gulf of Alaska, Kayak Island, and many species of wildlife. Transfer to our specially equip jet boat and witness the dynamic force of the mighty Copper River.  Recently cut off from road access by the river forces, the Childs Glacier is a world class spectacle of calving ice.  From a perspective seen by few others, see the Childs Glacier and the historic Million Dollar Bridge on an adventure of a lifetime.

The 36 mile Copper river Highway, only accessible via Cordova, is a wonderland of scenic vistas and viewable wildlife.  The Sheridan Glacier, while visible from the road, is explored on this tour with a short hike on a well maintained cobbled trail, surrounded by alders & wildflowers.  Experienced hikers, looking for a more challenging adventure can traverse to "Blue Ice" if you choose our Sheridan Glacier Hike Adventure, with an activity level of Moderate to Very Difficult.  On the Copper Delta Hike & Tour you will experience one of the many, well groomed Forest Service Trails, providing 38 miles of hiking opportunities, each offering a different experience of plants, animals, and terrain while giving a glimpse of the spectacular coastal rainforest.   Smell wildflowers, taste wild berries, hear the sounds of soaring majestic Bald Eagles calling above a forested canopy, see Trumpeter Swans nesting along the road, or catch a glimpse of bear and moose.  Watch wild salmon spawning as you get absorbed into this beautiful wilderness.
