Sunshine Point is our latest camp we have offering
world class Silver Salmon fishing on Alaska’s Gulf
Coast. With so much to explore, there are many
branches and tributaries of the main river we
haven’t fished yet.
Only 15 minutes from Cordova by air, yet Sunshine
Point is our most remote camp in many ways. Seldom
is another person seen on this trip, the vastness of
the fishing area can be a bit overwhelming to some.
The camp is located on the only piece of private
property on the eastern Copper River Delta, on an
old railroad route. Pieces of overgrown railroad
history are still visible under the rainforest
canopy. We access the camp via floatplane, landing
in a narrow slough. After docking, we head down a
trail that follows the old rail line to the camp.
Consisting of 2 comfortable guest cabins and a new
social and dining cabin, camp is relatively simple.
Each is cozy and heated by wood.
The main fishing river is about a 4 mile jet skiff
ride. We have custom built our boats especially for
this area with higher sides for added safety. There
are numerous fishing holes closer; including a
hidden lake, but incredible fishing upriver beckons
most. The river braids out with a contoured sandy
bottom that school up the Silvers. The gin clear
water, sandy beaches and easy wading offer superb
sight casting. This is simply the best location we
have found for consistent surface fishing for
Silvers. A combination of water depth, clarity and
number of fish make this an incredible site.
